Callaway Staff Professionals from across the globe went head-to-head in a special challenge at the traditional media night event on the Monday evening prior to the Open Championship to showcase their shot-making skills as well as Callaway’s latest products.

Guests at Lytham Green Drive Golf Club were treated to a golfing masterclass as the team of Callaway Staff Professionals – Alvaro Quiros, Branden Grace, Thongchai Jaidee, Thomas Bjorn, Pablo Larrazabal, Alex Noren and Jim Furyk – went head-to-head in a putting, bunker play, pitch and driving competition.

The light-hearted event saw Jim Furyk set the early pace when he holed a monster 60ft putt; he also went on to take the longest drive crown (with some help from the evening’s unique handicapping system!), beating the European Tour’s longest hitter, Spain’s Alvaro Quiros, into second place.

Furyk eventually took the overall honours on the night while the ‘losers’ each scooped a booby prize… and ‘won’ the opportunity to wash down Callaway’s new European Tour Truck, all 30 tons of it!

There were also appearances from senior executives from Callaway in America, including legendary clubmaker, Roger Cleveland; VP of Research and Design, Dr Alan Hocknell and the company’s recently appointed President and CEO, Chip Brewer.

Callaway Europe, Middle East and Africa Managing Director, Neil Howie, said: “Our annual Monday night event on the eve of the Open Championship is now a firm date in the diary and it was great fun to see our Staff Professionals put on such an entertaining and crowd-pleasing display. The guys were on top form and showcased the skills that make them the best players in the world, while also highlighting the technology and performance benefits of the latest Callaway range.”
