You wouldn’t just pick a suit off the rack or buy a pair of shoes without trying them for size… so why invest in a new set of golf clubs without making certain that they are a perfect fit?

It might sound obvious, but thousands of golfers buy clubs every day that really aren’t suitable for their swing or game. Far from helping players to improve, if a club doesn’t suit, it can actually be hugely detrimental. We want clubs to assist the player and improve their performance, but in a way that complements the swing rather than trying to change the way they play. By helping to eliminate the bad shots caused by incorrect equipment, and maximising the potential you already have in your swing, a Callaway custom-fit will use groundbreaking technology and technical expertise to take the doubt out of your game and visibly improve the performance of every club in the bag.

Why Custom Fit?
It is a common misconception that you need to be of a certain standard before being custom fitted. Not true. As long as you make regular contact with the golf ball then custom fit clubs will be of benefit. So if you’ve ever wondered which loft, shaft, flex, bounce or ball to use, the answers can be revealed in a custom fit.

The Technology
Callaway’s Performance Centres are the result of multi-million pound investment in custom fit technology. More than 10,000 multiple exposures per second from the camera and flash hardware enable us to capture two vital categories of information: clubhead performance pre-impact, and ball performance post-impact. The advent of highspeed cameras and computers has been crucial, but we are also hugely reliant on the expertise and experience of our fitting professionals to interpret and use the data produced to work out where improvements can be made. That means changing loft, lie, length, shaft flex, head model, weighting, grip size or any other variable. With so many head and shaft options to try, a Callaway Custom Fit can improve your game whatever your ability, size, age or gender.

During the fitting, a wealth of information is collected from our launch monitors and is then translated onto a simulated ball flight that can be viewed on our Virtual Test Centre (VTC). The VTC will graphically show the player their trajectory, shape and distance of shot. The Callaway fitter can use this versatile tool to look at the ball’s flight from every perceivable camera angle and use the images to explain and illustrate what is happening and why it is important in easy-to-understand terminology.

The VTC also allows the player to see the progress of their custom fit by seeing exactly what is changing and how they are improving as they try the specially selected clubs given to them by the Callaway Custom fit expert. We fit around 50 golfers a week at our European HQ at Chessington and are very proud to be helping so many players to achieve their golfing goals – whether it’s winning a Major or breaking 100 for the first time.
